Tirex Begins Stage 2 Testing of
TCS-1 Tire Disintegration System

MONTREAL, CANADA, June 15, 1998 -- The Tirex Corporation, announced that it began stage 2 testing of the TCS-1 cryogenic scrap tire recycling system on June 15th and it will last for approximately 3 months. Tirex president, Terence C. Byrne stated that, based on the successful results of stage one testing the company will begin commercial manufacturing of the TCS-1 System in August of this year. Mr. Byrne also noted that recently completed financing activities, in which Tirex raised approximately $2,200,000 US, have provided Tirex with sufficient funds to complete all presently anticipated test procedures.

Tirex has received orders for a total of eleven Systems (eight from one customer). Completion and consummation of all currently outstanding contracts would represent $30,250,000 in revenues to Tirex, but such outcome is entirely dependent upon the TCS-1 System meeting performance expectations, each customers obtaining lease, or other financing for the purchased portions of the System and to Tirex obtaining sufficient production financing.

Tirex has been invited and will attend the Discovery Expo at the New York City Hilton & Towers on Thursday, June 18 from noon until 8pm. The Expo is the largest exposition of small and mid cap listed companies in the US. Tirex looks forward to meeting all interested parties.
